With GTK3 dropping Autotools we are one step closer to peace in our lifetime: no more m4 preprocessor; no more inscrutable shell scripts needed to detect if you're trying to build a project released in 2022 on a Unix from 1984; no more 20k lines of shell script needed to wrap the compiler and linker in order to build a shared library; no more time, CPU cycles, power, and heat wasted building projects.

For the curious: dropping the Autotools build from GTK3 ended up touching 205 files, adding 612 lines, and removing 22902 lines from the gtk-3-24 branch.
