Had around 150 people sign up for the newsletter after I sent out the announcement yesterday, exciting!
I'm will send out the first issue later today, sign up here if you want to receive it!

Kinda fed up with all the paid options for an integrated site where I can receive monthly and one-time donations and also sell digital downloads and print-on-demand merchandise.
The only appealing option left is to craft my own using Stripe and/or PayPal.
Wanna see an AGPL-licensed store/sponsorship site get made? Maybe with Guile Scheme? Maybe deployed with GNU Guix?
It can be done.
@dthompson oh damn, I need to join that this time. Baby will be born right as the jam starts, might have to use some overnight awake time for game hacking :)
@ekaitz_zarraga @civodul also not very easy to totally break your home with it, Guix Home keeps backups of all the files that it overwrites, plus generations. Pretty safe!
40 years old today. Gotta make the next 10-20 years count before time inevitably dulls the mind!
@ekaitz_zarraga yeah! Let's do it
@ekaitz_zarraga that'd be cool! I'm out of town this week but I could do a pairing session sometime next week if you're still working on it.
I've looked at Guix' build system code briefly but I'd like to learn more about how it works.
@ekaitz_zarraga I'll definitely let you know!
I've had a lot of fun working on my own Scheme compiler this year but I'm starting to wonder if my time would be better spent hacking on #Guile #Scheme instead.
The compiler and runtime are mature and battle-tested, the tooling is excellent (#Guix, Geiser), lots of useful libraries, and the community is filled with smart, creative people.
I'm now considering spending a couple of months experimenting with Guile to see if I can quickly accomplish some of the things I had in mind with Mesche...
@cwebber @dthompson I'm also planning to talk a bit more about Guile this year on the channel. That would be a good opportunity to talk about Spritely Goblins!
@cwebber @dthompson awesome hire! I'm admittedly a little jealous :) If you ever need some occasional short-term freelance work done...
I asked ChatGPT to write a poem about Emacs, here's what it returned.
Now this is interesting: an ActivityPub server implementation by @grunfink written in C that only depends on `libcurl` and `libssl`:
https://codeberg.org/grunfink/snac2
Should be easy to package it up for Guix. Code looks nice too!
Scheme hacker, game developer, and Emacs inhabitor living in Athens, Greece.I make videos about GNU Emacs, GNU Guix, and related topics on the System Crafters channel on YouTube.
