I always find it strange when people say that Linux is an alternative to Windows. No, okay sure a Linux Distro is an OS too, but otherwise something completely different.
It's the same with Twitter and Mastodon: Mastodon is a social network, but not an alternative to Twitter. It is something completely independent, different and new.
