That doesn't mean what they do is practical or anything like that.

I *can't live* without proprietary software because my government website uses it and I need to register my invoices and stuff like that.

BUT!!! that doesn't mean the FSF misses its goal. Quite the opposite.

The FSF shows me I should fight to change that situation, because it's unfair.

Saying the FSF is privileged is literally like saying strikes are bad because some workers can't afford to make one.

      In fact.
RMS is a quite privileged man, and he decides to make sacrifices to show you how that affects his life.

I don't understand it as a "he does it because he can" but as a "he decided to live a worse life".

He could just have a great life, working for the MIT, making proprietary software and shit like that. But he chose to have a slightly worse life in order to fight for people's rights.

I don't love him, but I can respect what he did.

The FSF and RMS taught me, and now I do it.

I decided to live a slightly worse life in which I make free software rather than a life where I make proprietary rubbish for a lot of money.

I did that because I could, and because I'm privileged enough to be able to do it (but not that much as people may think).
The alternative is to let the world be a worse place to live in.

They made me a better person.
If that's missing the point, I don't know how do you call what Google does.

@ekaitz_zarraga meanwhile he also decided to make other people's live miserable through. Don't defend that guy, there is almost no criticism about his Foss believes, it's all because his repeated harassments, mysogonistic anti-feminist views which all together forced him to step back (to then have the FSF silently letting him come back years later). FSF is harmful to the movement, not because the way they're trying to demonstrate FOSS lifestyle, but the way they are doing everything else.
