I’m not sure why I thought of this again this morning— combination of some takes on farming and on corporations not being intrinsically evil (LMFAO), but I used to be an (don’t throw things) executive assistant at a hedge fund* that had a fund with the rather innocuous name The American Farmland Company. This fund was quite literally contemporary sharecropping.

*technically a fund of funds— ask me to clarify if you care, but prepare to get really angry
