   my ideal job would be foss game / language dev living in a weird house with a buncha weird people living off of patreon/liberapay/whatever money to fund my work, and not being a corporate slave, no matter how well it pays

     @grainloom You can achieve that kind of work. I almost got it. I'm very near to achieve it.

     I need to start pushing patronage stuff but I can more or less live without working for big corps.

     I think you can achieve that too, and it must be easier for you because you are a much better programmer than I am.

     My job is kinda different to what you propose there but we can consider it similar enough.

     @grainloom It takes time and you may need to get money from different sources until you can live so be patient and be prepared for that. Life is hard sometimes.

     Since I left the corporate shit I feel much better, I improved a lot at my job and I feel much more comfortable with myself.

     That's good because if I finally starve I can go back to corps with a better CV. I won't do it, but knowing you are not wasting your time is good to control the anxiety and stay patient.
