Just made my first review on #Nextcloud#Accessibility improvement and I will participate in the #a11y team. Thanks all Nextcloud wonderful community for working on this matter and let all the people take part of #libre#cloud platform.
I'm trying to keep this as much accessible as I can.
It's hard to take everything in consideration because I'm not specifically trained on web development or #web#accessibility, but some details are a big difference and there's no effort to implement them.
If you always do your best, you'll live longer. LOL
I have ported #TextSuggest to #OpenBSD. This is an #accessibility tool which can suggest words and even type them correctly on behalf of the user. It tries to account for typing mistakes anywhere in a word with fuzzy matching. There is a server part which runs in the background and has the dictionaries, and a frontend which should be bound to a key (e.g. I'm using F12) to make the menu appear while typing.
I am porting this for a friend who is disabled and cannot easily spell and type.
While adding links to Heartbeat design documents as historic reference to the latest #hypha spike post*, I ended up watching the Heartbeat initial reveal video again.
I’d highly recommend that anyone working on tools for social justice view it.
Hi, I'm Fen! I'm a #nonbinary web developer and #accessibility professional who's really into making zines and indie LARPs.
Check out my code and talks at fenslattery.com
My zines and games are available at sublimemarch.itch.io
I post about: ?️? trans and queer issues ? programming (mostly HTML and CSS) ??? radical inclusion in the tech industry ♿ digital accessibility and invisible illness ? mental illness :computerfairies: weird internet junk
Are there any hints you would give users on here to make posts more accessible?
I've heard these quite often:
-Use CamelCase on hashtags, i.e. capital letters for each word within the tag. #CamelCase is easier for screenreaders to read correctly than #camelcase
-Add a text description on your images, it won't affect the character limit on your main post.
-Don't use rapidly blinking gifs on your profile, they are animated by default on public profiles.
It's a bot which I know some people hate, but otherwise I love @accessibleColors, which randomly selects colors with sufficient contrast to meet #accessibility standards.
Did you know color combinations can be measured and result in a number that has to be over a certain threshold to be accessible? I think that's pretty cool.
In an internet of light grey text on white backgrounds, it's nice to see how many, many better options are available. :)
