@bugaevc @jamie It'll also improve the bootstrap story. Rust is pretty tricky to bootstrap from the source ATM. Each compiler version relies on the previous one to build itself. The overall chain tend to be quite long*, GCC has a much better story in that area.

Don't draw definitive conclusions on LLMs from this troll-ish post though. As I was mentionning in https://social.alternativebit.fr/notice/AUD7F7SSTEiszdvrZg, this particular one (CollosalChat) is particularly bad.
ChatGPT performed much better when I tested it. This new tech is definitely both fascinating and terrifying! I think this hype has definitely more ground to it than the crypto one. -

This is the first time I'm experiencing a hardware-related memory (and filesystem) corruption.
I still don't fully get how this particular makefile detection ended up turning defective.
TIL: if all in sudden your computer regularly corrupt your filesystem and weirdly crashes your running programs, a faulty ram stick could be the root cause.
TIL2: USE ECC RAM FOR YOUR NIX/GUIX BUILDERS!!!! -

Stalebots should be considered to be unacceptable for FOSS projects.
This is volunteer work I'm doing here. I never agreed to act in a timely fashion.
What gave the right to some random software to close a PR/bug report for which I invested some of my spare time to write.
We should have strong policy in FOSS projects disallowing people who write/setup bots to abuse human volunteers. -
