Technology and me don't get along. I make technology, I don't use it. This is very obvious when I am trying to set up this phone.
I had to get Felicity to turn it on for me

Solder paste is magic and far more forgiving than I expected.
It pulls the components into place and pools on the pads.
Just like 'don't mind me, I am just some grey goo' and then suddenly 'BWA HA HA HA!!! I AM METAL THAT GRABS YOUR COMPONENTS AND MOVES THEM INTO PLACE!! FEAR MY POWER!!'
the silver square part has 8 leads on the underside, it is about 2mm x 2mm and the soldering worked.
Unfortunately the light sensor needs an amplifier, and the amplifier for the microphone is doing something weird so it doesn't work, but I used really cheap components because this is just a test run to see if I can get soldering with stencils and paste to work well. The temperature, humidity and barometric pressure sensor seems to be doing just fine and that was the most important part.
I was working in the back house yesterday when my foot went through the floor.
It wasn't too bad, I was able to keep going. I have some bruises and a pulled muscle in my chest, but I was ok until about an hour again.
Falling and catching yourself makes you tense up in a way that you feel it the next day and it can make you feel a bit nauseous. Which is where I am now.
Fun.
I just had about an hour and a half bike ride.
It is kind of warm outside. 29C and rather humid. (That is about 84 degrees in FREEDOM units).
Luckly there was a lot of water, and it really doesn't feel too bad when you are moving. It just makes you feel terrible when you stop.
other things we are looking for:
- some light back-end work with sql databases and some nodejs server work
- Someone who can manage the other things
Also if you DM me and I don't respond it is probably because I didn't see it. In that case email info@literatai.net
The company I am in is in a position where we need we need people who can do some contract work.
We are going to need some people to do mechanical-turk type work but I would much rather have people I could work directly with. For this part we need people who have good reading comprehension in english.
We also have some frontend/ui (html, js, d3 mainly) work that isn't going to require a lot of skill. Here speaking French with some English is ok (if you can read this post you should be ok)
The teacher for my 'how to be french' class I had to take said 'Yes you can sell things, but of course you have to have the governments permission and a license for it.' and 'income taxes are absolutely necessary because it lets us live in a stable society' then about two sentences later she said 'mandatory voting is a huge violation of personal liberties.'
I don't really disagree with the first two, but how the third one fits with the first two baffles me
@zatnosk I don't know what a gemini terminal is, but aside from the screen not much, if there was manufacturing ability. So like a maker space with a laser cutter and/or CNC machine to make the case.
Ignoring the case and the screen, expect around 20 euros, a bit more if you want fancy buttons, if you can get to a maker space the case would be something like another 10.
Then screens are between 10 and 60 euros, they are priced weirdly so both eink and lcd monitors are in the whole range.
This is a long shot but
Any one on here have experience managing MySQL/MariaDB systems and/or general sysadmin experience and looking for a job?
if I don't respond here email info (at) literatai.net
FreeNode being burned down is really weird to watch.
I never spent much time there, but it is one of the things I just always thought would be around, like wikipedia or tv tropes.
And I have been shot. I wait 15 minutes to makes sure nothing is going wrong.
I am waiting to get my first shot.
I wonder how long until the superpowers show up.
I have just created my first programming as performance art piece and I don't think anyone in the normal audience for it is going to have any understanding of that fact.
People kept asking for blockchain to be added into tiddlywiki, not to do anything and not to ask for any actual functionality, just add blockchain to it.
So I made a browser-based blockchain that exists only in your browser. It doesn't connect to a larger network or anything. And it has Utilicoin, the most useful cryptocoin.
@djsundog please let us know the details of your superpowers when they fully develop
So... There wouldn't happen to be someone with experience doing databases, hopefully administering pretty big mysql databases, who is looking for work here?
Remember, this isn't just the hottest summer on record, it is the coolest summer we can expect for the foreseeable future.
So yeah, this may be the coolest summer that you have for the rest of your life.
ok, I am not going to try and do this paper for the Paris conference because it needs lots of work.
So now do I:
- Working on a natural language processing project that pays
- Work on robots
- Work on a distributed network for robots
- Working on #Pescatoria
- Playing video games
- Napping
I have absolutely no idea and refuse to make this a poll. Polls are only for making inane jokes once or twice and then ignoring forever
I was getting very worried about my phd research because I kept getting far worse results in my python simulation than the figures showed back when I was doing it in matlab and I thought I was doing everything exactly the same and I thought that maybe i had made the whole thing up.
But then I realised that in my old code I was windowing the FFT before processing and I had that line commented out in python. After fixing that things are back to being the magic that they should be.
@rey I am completely ok with not knowing what people are talking about. It makes life more relaxing.
