@ArneBab @AbbieNormal I took a look that book some time ago. I don't want to get into controversy, but I am one of those who believe that for Emacs to work the first step is to use evil mode like Spacemacs, and the book didn't do that.
If you use evil mode you have to subordinate the rest of emacs to it, so the rest of the book was no longer useful for me either.
