   @wim_v12e @welshpixie seems to me the main "cultural" difference is europe is better fenced against *the rest of the world*. social inequality is mostly elsewhere and you can use your phone in public transport without constantly thinking someone is going to steal it. of course this can be slightly different from place to place, but in general (and I've been to some parts of europe, so it's also a bit of personal experience).

     @wim_v12e @welshpixie hm, most my nerdy friends are europeans, so I'm not sure. i do feel like the US people are a bit more aware of social inequality since they have it a lot more in their face inside their own country?
