     @pixelfed If Pixelfed can beat Instagram and Facebook in a single platform, damn... you own it!

     I know developing is stressful and the priorities are developing some core improvements and features, but what about improving the Stories feature so that you can even record with the camera, add filters, text, geometrical forms, even simple set of gifs 🤔 I think this feature will make a lot of people create content on fediverse.

     @pixelfed ... the key of this feature (Stories), could be that it is actually been deleted after 24 hours, so it can (not only be better for privacy), but also for sysadmins that run instances (to save space)

     @admin They do get deleted after 24 hours! We have a cron job that runs every 5 minutes to delete Stories older than 24 hours!

     @Zak @pixelfed you probably don't hate the Stories feature, you hate the actual stories. That's the people, not the tool

     @pixelfed @admin I hate stories on big social and am not happy about the idea of such a manipulative engagement-boosting technique coming to the fediverse.

     @Zak @pixelfed well, maybe to improve that you could select how much time you want to share a Story, for example. Stories are for momentary things, it's just people on Instagram use stories wrongly, most of them should just post stuff indefinitely

     @admin @pixelfed No, I specifically hate that they disappear quickly so that I have to interact with the site daily if I want to ensure I don’t miss anything.

     @admin @pixelfed Stories were added to big social platforms and featured super-prominently in their UIs because fear of missing out increases engagement.

     That’s not to say there’s no value in (not necessarily disappearing) daily featured content, or in a disappearing posts feature (though I question that in a federated system where not all nodes will honor the request to expire it), but “stories” implies tying together those two features, and I think I’ve expressed why I think that’s harmful.

     @Zak @pixelfed that's a good point to see 🤔 But in the other side, not having stories can't compete with Instagram. It's a hard decision.I think Pixelfed can increase engagement (which is good for a platform to grow) without causing addiction, cause Instagram does shuffle everything in favor of your "preferences" and Pixelfed doesn't
