With Firefox 68, the Accessibility panel can now report any color contrast issues with text on a page. More checks are planned for the future. Also: letter spacing adjusting in the Font Editor! #a11y #Firefox #WordPress https://twitter.com/mozhacks/status/1148604213057994752

Ekaitz Zárraga 👹 (ekaitz_zarraga@mastodon.social)'s status on Tuesday, 28-May-2019 21:25:02 CEST Ekaitz Zárraga 👹 Solved:
xdg-desktop-portal was missing.
My system had only xdg-desktop-portal-kde installed.Solved a long time issue with:
sudo apt-get install xdg-desktop-portal
In 10 minutes of digging on the internet. At the same time this is quite frustrating because it's a dependency #KDE or #Firefox should have.

In any case, I wasn't just trying to engage.
I was trying to inform people!
It was before the Russian Government started to use those attacks and #Mozilla #Security's developers (that in the bug report suggested to continue the conversation on #Lobsters) hadn't yet answered this simple question: "are #Firefox users vulnerable to this wide class of undetectable attacks?"
They are leaving their users vulnerable without informing them!

I'm sorry, but given the severity of the issue, I think this architectural issue should have been mitigated 7 months ago.
And to be honest, I can't really imagine how #Firefox developers can sleep since they know that Putin is using their browser to identify suspect people.
We are talking about #WHATWG #LivingStandards: the fastest way to have a fix introduced in these standards is to introduce it in one of the implementations.

"The basic insight behind Prio is that for most purposes we don’t need to collect individual data, but rather only aggregates. [Prio] does this by having the browser break the data up into two “shares”, each of which is sent to a different server. Individually the shares don’t tell you anything about the data being reported, but together they do... Over the next few months we’ll be doing further testing..."

In conversation from gnusocial.villanos.net permalink -

I didn't talk with uMatrix/NoScript devs because I think #privacy and #security should be the default working mode of the #Web.
You should opt-in #JavaScript, not opt-in into safety.
Also I think they would have a hard time at fixing some of the aspect of this issue (think about view-source, for example).
Finally the just protect #Chrome and #Firefox users.
I talked with #Mozilla because the write the #LivingStandards and they can fix them with FF.
