Code licensed under GPL can be used and shared by anyone willing to respect the license (including to use the same license for the derivative works). That's why you can find parts of #Lichess in #FreeSoftware projects such as Lishogi and in commercial ones such as Chessify. Spread the #libre software word!
After 2 years of negotiations with Microsoft, the German Data Protection Conference issued a damning statement: German schools must not use MS365 due to privacy violations.

To the many who've joined the Fediverse this past week, just a clarification: the 'big tech' folk you see here from Microsoft/Google/Amazon/etc. have mostly also only just arrived, too, smelling 'green fields' into which to proselytise on behalf of their exploitative hyper-tech corp employers. If, for example, you think Microsoft is now a friend of #FOSS (Free & Open Source Software) then you've bought their PR. They are not. They're a tapeworm in the healthy gut of FOSS community ecosystems.
Anyone a CSS/Javascript expert able to do simple things fast w/only #FOSS? We need to spruce up our site quickly. We've got the Django parts but need someone w/great CSS/Javascript skills to work with us on it. Ideally, you'd have 2 days of contractor time over the next week...
Ugh. I'm so frustrated to be continually asked to participate in talks & panels on Zoom specifically about tech ethics & #opensource. There are great #FOSS systems for this. See @fosdem's successful use of solely FOSS solutions for over 30,000 participants. #jitsi#BigBlueButton
I find it incredibly surprising that many #FOSS or #FLOSS folk take the 0th pillar's "freedom of use" to mistakenly mean "freedom of usage by creating a software feature" instead of the true intended meaning: "freedom of usage under the license conditions".
Because that's what RMS has always been about: the software licenses being symmetrical in power between the distributor of software and receiver of software. It creates a level playing field in terms of what "politics" are contained in the software.
